deeper still recap…. part The Church at Brook Hills/Dr. David Platt

Congratulations to Rachel and Tammy who won the Therapon Travel sets!! 🙂  They are on the way!

Before the girls and I headed home on Sunday, we had the blessing of attending The Church at Brook Hills in Birmingham.  Dr. David Platt is the Senior Pastor and an amazing teacher!  If you have not read his book Radical, you should immediately click the link and purchase one.  Like, right now.  I’m not even kidding.

Because I had read Radical and it’s a staple on the night stand, I was super pumped to be able to hear him preach/teach.  I admit that I was really tired and ready to be home… but hopeful to be injected with some Holy Spirit goodness before we hit the road.

I was NOT disappointed.  In fact, I was blown away at what God had done.  What God had done to my heart.

Dr. Platt taught on 1 Corinthians 1:18-2:16 – The Cross-Centered Life

There is not a single word that can add to the beauty of this message.  I encourage you to take the time and sit with the Word and pick through the message with Dr. Platt.  Until you do that, know this.

I have been forever changed by this message.

I have been forever changed by this teaching.

These statements were part of the piercing:

God chooses weak, despised, lowly, outcast nobody’s every moment of every day to set His affections on.

God on High set His affections on me before the foundations of the universe.

BIG WOW.

I am so incredibly grateful for the blessing of Deeper Still and the many wonderful spiritual nuggets He’s gifted me with.  It’s an experience that I soon won’t forget.

If you could pass along any spiritual nuggets from the weekend, what would it be?

I’ll choose one winner via a random generator and send you a copy of Radical… so leave me a nugget.. comments will close at midnight on December 23rd.  What are you waiting for?

  1. Whatever it takes, let me not be ashamed when You come in Your Glory … one of the first things Kay Arthur said and it DEFINED the weekend for me. Still processing how GOOD He is and how I cannot get enough of Him!

  2. Well, I’m obviously late and I didn’t attend Deeper Still but here is a nugget I learned on our women’s retreat. “There is nothing I can do to make God love me more and there is nothing I can do to make God love me less. That is GRACE”
