Spiritual Direction
We all have a personal journey. Sometimes our spiritual paths are filled with clarity and we can see forward, other times the path is hard to see, distinquish or even find. Spiritual Direction should be a place that allows you to rest and hear from God.
What is Spiritual Direction?
Are you healing from an abusive/restrictive spiritual environment or just beginning that process? Whether you are numb to your relationship with God or want to deepen your connection to God, Spiritual Direction is the sacred space to listen to God together.
A Spiritual director is trained to journey with individuals as they walk forward with questions, clarity, frustration or desire to have a deeper attachment to God. They meet one-on-one with individuals to listen, offer observations, and ask questions. While spiritual direction is a listening ministry, it is different from counseling or therapy. Spiritual directors do not attempt to analyze, fix or problem solve. They listen and offer support and encouragement as you look for and listen for God.
Spiritual directors have also participated in a two-year training program designed to hone their skills and provide a strong theological foundation for ministry. In addition, spiritual directors are committed to journeying with God through spiritual practices and engagement in a community of faith. They also commit to receiving regular spiritual direction and supervision.
I received my training through Lutheran Southern Theological Seminary – Lenoir Rhyne University and have been under Spiritual Direction personally since January 2019. I am welcoming, affirming and inclusive and direct persons from all Christian traditions.
